Hyundai Heavy Wins First Order in 2016

South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has signed an agreement to build two 158,000 dwt Suezmax crude tankers for a Turkey-based shipping company Ditas Shipping. The deal, worth between USD 120 to 140 million, will see HHI deliver the vessels to their owner in 2018, Yonhap news agency reported. NYK Line Charters Out Wood-Chip Carrier Newbuild

Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) has concluded a long-term contract with compatriot Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co for a new wood-chip carrier. The new wood-chip carrier will be built by Japanese shipbuilder Oshima Shipbuilding Co. and delivered in 2018, NYK said in a release. Teekay Starts Building Six LNG Carriers

December was a pretty busy month for Teekay Corporation as keels for six LNG newbuildings were laid at Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard.   Five of these 173,400 cubic meter M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) engine LNG newbuildings are under time-charter contracts with Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell). HHI Keeps Up the Momentum with KSS Line’s Newbuilds
