South Korean shipping company KSS Line Ltd., a specialist in transporting chemical cargoes, signed a time charter contract on Thursday, September 17th, with Japanese LPG importer GYXIS Corporation for a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier.
The vessel in question, referred to as the Hull No H-2890 is a 84,000 cbm class LPG carrier. The ship has been hired for a seven-year charter, priced at KRW 165 billion (USD 136.6 million).
The move comes following a similar deal with GYXIS Corporation from two weeks ago that saw KSS Line Ltd. order one very large gas carrier (VLGC) from Hyundai Heavy Industries to service a seven-year charter contract signed on September 4.
The 84,000 cbm VLGC is priced at KRW 91.4 billion (USD 76.7m), and is due for delivery by the end of March 2017.
The deal included an option but further details were not revealed.
KSS has four LPG carriers on order, two 84,000 cbm VLGCs at HHI and two 38,000 cbm LPG carriers at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
