In the year to May, the value of ships exported in China is seen have continued a decreasing trend.
According to the General Administration of Customs of China, total value of ships exported recorded $12.07bn from January to May of 2013, showing a 27.8% year-on-year decrease.
Meanwhile, ship import value amounted to $960m during the same period, increasing by 10.8% year on year while the sum total of vessels' export and import was $13.03bn, decreased by 25.9%.
Of which, the value of ship export in China in May recorded $2.75bn, down by 20.2% year on year and by $700m month on month, while the one from ship import in the same month decreased by 49.4% year on year to $150m, which represents a $92m decline month on month.
On the other hand, the total value of China’s exported commercial vessels during the period from January to May was $8.9bn, accounting for 73.7% of total, of which, bulker took 49.4% ratio with $5.96bn.
More specifically, there are seven vessel types which saw at least $500m amount of export, of which the amount of bulkers exported in the range of less than 150,000 dwt recorded $4.6bn, a 34.2% year-on-year decrease, whereas tankers in the range of more than 300,000 dwt recorded $1.02bn, up by 175.3%. In addition, containerships ranged less than 6,000 teu showed a 3.9% decline with $950m and bulkers in the range of 150,000-300,000 dwt recorded $810m, down by 67.5% year on year while containerships ranged more than 6,000 teu showed a 38.9% decline with $580m.
Alongside, total amount of export from multi-purpose vessel and 300,000 dwt bulker recorded $550m each, showing a 39.9% decline and a 54.7% increase.
